Live Entertainment Built to Draw a Crowd

This live events marketing case study follows a touring magic production promoted across 18 shows in Canadian markets. The show already had a compelling experience to sell, but each new market created the same challenge: build awareness quickly, reach people who were realistically able to attend, and give them a strong enough reason to purchase tickets.

MRKT360 became an ongoing marketing partner from July 2023 through December 2025, supporting the tour with Meta Ads, market-specific audience strategies, creative development, retargeting, and continuous campaign optimization.

Building Demand Before the Curtain Goes Up

Live entertainment has a fixed window to succeed. Every show has a date, a venue, a local market, and a finite number of tickets to sell. Strong performances alone are not enough if awareness builds too slowly or advertising reaches people unlikely to attend.

For a touring magic production, the challenge became even more complex. Each stop introduced a new market with different audience behaviours, levels of awareness, and competitive entertainment options. The campaign needed to generate attention quickly while making the magic experience instantly recognizable.

The opportunity was to build a repeatable advertising system that could launch into new markets, learn quickly, adapt creative and audience strategy, and efficiently move prospective attendees from discovery toward ticket purchase.

The Strategy Behind the Results

MRKT360 built the advertising around the realities of touring entertainment: short selling windows, changing markets, different audience signals, and multiple ticketing platforms. The strategy had to create demand quickly, adapt by market, and give us enough visibility into what happened after someone clicked an ad.

Targeted Meta Advertising

We treated each market as its own opportunity rather than simply extending one national campaign. Audience signals, location, event timing, and performance data in Meta Ads helped shape how each show was positioned and where budget could work hardest.

Event-Specific Ad Creative

The creative needed to communicate magic immediately. We strengthened the visual direction so audiences could understand the experience at a glance, while event details and calls to action gave interested viewers a clear next step toward tickets.

Testing & Campaign Optimization

The strategy evolved while campaigns were live. Through A/B testing, retargeting, and conversion tracking, we continuously refined the variables influencing performance rather than allowing campaigns to run unchanged.

Ticketing Attribution & Conversion Tracking

Because ticket purchases happened across multiple third-party platforms, MRKT360 worked with ticketing partners to improve conversion visibility wherever possible. This helped connect Meta Ads activity more closely with final ticket sales and gave us stronger signals for evaluating audiences, markets, and campaign performance.

Reaching the People Most Likely to Influence the Purchase

MRKT360 looked beyond broad entertainment interests and considered who was most likely to make the final ticket-buying decision. For family audiences, that often meant reaching the person responsible for planning the outing and purchasing multiple tickets, while other campaigns could focus on adults organizing experiences for partners, friends, or larger groups.

Audience strategies were built around these different decision-makers, their interests, location, and likely purchasing role. As campaigns generated more data, targeting was continuously refined to focus attention on the audiences showing the strongest potential to move from interest to ticket purchase.

Giving Decision-Makers a Clear Reason to Buy

The creative needed to do more than communicate that the event was a magic show. It also needed to help the person making the purchase quickly understand why the experience was worth choosing for their family, partner, or group.

MRKT360 shifted the visual direction toward unmistakable moments of magic, stronger performer imagery, clear event information, and creative that better conveyed the experience audiences could expect. Different approaches were tested as each campaign progressed, helping strengthen the connection between attention and purchase intent.

Staying Present Between Interest and Ticket Purchase

Discovering a show and buying a ticket do not always happen in the same session. Potential attendees may visit a ticketing site, compare dates, coordinate with friends or family, and return later before purchasing.

Retargeting helped keep the production visible during that consideration period. Rather than allowing initial interest to disappear after one interaction, MRKT360 created additional opportunities to bring prospective attendees back toward ticketing sites as the event date approached.

Closing the Gap Between Ad Clicks and Ticket Sales

With different shows using multiple third-party ticketing platforms, the customer journey did not always end inside systems MRKT360 directly controlled. That made final-purchase measurement more complex than simply tracking clicks from Meta Ads.

MRKT360 worked with the various ticketing partners to strengthen conversion visibility wherever possible, requesting additional tracking support and clearer purchase data so campaign decisions could be informed by what happened after audiences left the ad.

This collaboration helped create a more complete view of the ticket-buying journey, allowing us to look beyond traffic and better understand which campaigns, audiences, and markets were contributing to actual ticket sales.

Building Momentum Around Each Tour Stop

Every city represented a new local demand cycle. Advertising needed to build enough awareness around the venue while staying focused on people who could realistically attend.

MRKT360 localized campaigns around the markets where each show was taking place, helping concentrate budget around relevant geographic audiences rather than generating broad exposure with limited ticketing potential.

Across 18 shows, this approach allowed the tour to build local visibility repeatedly while maintaining a broader campaign strategy that could evolve from one market to the next.

Making Decisions While the Selling Window Was Still Open

Live event campaigns cannot wait months for optimization. By the time an event date arrives, the opportunity is gone.

MRKT360 consistently monitored campaign performance while tickets were actively being sold, allowing creative, audiences, budget allocation, retargeting, and promotional approaches to be adjusted while those changes could still influence results.

Stronger-performing strategies were maintained and expanded, while weaker approaches could be refined rather than consuming the remaining selling window.

Carrying What Worked Into the Next Market

One of the biggest advantages of a multi-show partnership was the ability to build institutional knowledge over time.

Insights from previous markets helped inform future campaign decisions, while each new tour stop introduced additional performance data that could strengthen the overall strategy. Audience targeting, creative direction, promotional approaches, and retargeting therefore evolved across the partnership instead of resetting with every show.
